Pioneer Theatre Guild presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"

Pioneer Theatre Guild students perform in the musical comedy, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."

This weekend, Pioneer High School's Theatre Guild kicks off its run of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."

With music and lyrics by William Finn, and a Tony Award-winning book by Rachel Sheinkin, the musical comedy focuses on six young, quirky contestants as they navigate not only a spelling bee but also the minefields of growing up.

Showtimes are Friday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, February 13-14 at 2 p.m.; Friday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, February 20 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, February 21 at 2 p.m. All performances happen at Pioneer's Little Theater, at 601 W. Stadium, and tickets are $12 ($9 for students and seniors), available at the door.

Funny, touching show! The performers did an outstanding job, even better than the usual high standards which we have come to expect from PTG.

Just got home from seeing Spelling Bee: 90 minutes of non-stop smiles! If you like great musical theater you should see this show.
