P.T.D. Productions announces auditions for 'The Norman Conquests'
P.T.D. Productions will hold auditions for "The Norman Conquests,” directed by Jan Carpman, on Wednesday, September 8, from 7-9 p.m. in Ypsilanti at the Riverside Arts Center (76 N. Huron Street), and Thursday, September 9, from 6:30-8:30 PM in Ann Arbor at the Ann Arbor District Library Downtown Branch (343 S. Fifth Ave.), with callbacks on September 10 at the Riverside Arts Center. Experienced actors interested in auditioning should check http://www.freshwaterseas.com/auditions/aud_current.htm for more information.
The comic trilogy “The Norman Conquests,” a 2009 Tony award-winner (best revival) by British playwright Alan Ayckbourn, will be presented Dec. 9-12 and 16-18 at the Riverside Arts Center. PTD will fully stage the first play in the trilogy, “Table Manners” (7 performances) and will present staged readings of the second play, “Living Together” (1 performance, Saturday matinee, Dec. 11) and the third, “Round and Round the Garden” (1 performance, Saturday matinee, Dec. 18).
The plays take place during a weekend in a grand but decaying Victorian vicarage in rural England in the mid-1970's. They concern the fraught relationships among three adult siblings (Annie, Ruth, and Reg) and their respective spouses and might-be spouse (Sarah, Norman, and Tom). The plays occur simultaneously in three areas of the house: the dining room (“Table Manners”), the living room (“Living Together), and the yard (“Round and Round the Garden”).
“The Norman Conquests” offers a unique opportunity for actors to play the same character in three different, closely related, plays.
