Purple Rose Theatre offers Valentine's party package with Jeff Daniels

By AnnArbor.com Staff

On Sunday, February 13, hosts Wendy and Bill Holmes, and Mary and Ken Weber, along with special guest Jeff Daniels, invite you to a Valentine’s party tied up in red ribbon for romantics, dreamers, and rug-cutters alike, which will include: theatre reservations, cocktails, dinner, great music, celebrities, and dancing. You need only supply the Valentine(s).

The party begins at the Purple Rose Theatre at 4 p.m., with the world premiere of "Corktown," a dark comedy about a sensitive Detroit hit man who discovers that love can pull a gun and back you into a corner when you least expect it.

The party continues with cocktails, wine, and a sumptuous dinner at Weber’s Inn, where guests can dance a fox trot, bop, boogie, or tap their toes to the incomparable music of Dave Bennett.

Bennett has performed with over 20 orchestras, including eight concerts with the Detroit Symphony. He was guest soloist with The Count Basie Orchestra and was featured at the Arizona Classic, San Diego, and Edmonton International Jazz Festivals, as well as Switzerland’s Bern Jazz Festival. Bennett is not limited to jazz and swing, and although he’s a clarinetist, he plays a mean boogie woogie piano.

Tickets are $200 per person (tax deductibility, $125). A limited number of tickets at $125 for dinner and dancing only are also available (tax deductibility, $50). A special room rate of $99 is available at Weber’s Inn for guests on February 12 and/or 13.

Funds raised from this benefit will provide critical support for the Purple Rose, a nationally acclaimed, award-winning, non-profit theatre.
