Richie Havens, Ben Gibbard and Jay Farrar added to Folk Festival bill
More headliners have been announced for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival Jan. 29-30. (Others were announced yesterday; see the story here.)
In addition to Iron and Wine, Ben Gibbard and Jay Farrar have been added to Friday night’s lineup. Gibbard (lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie) and Jay Farrar (Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt), recently collaborated on the soundtrack for the 2009 documentary film “One Fast Move or I’m Gone,” about Jack Kerouac’s time spent at Big Sur.
Folk singer and guitarist Richie Havens has been added to Saturday night’s bill of Rosanne Cash and Doc Watson, previously announced. Havens came to national attention as a result of his incendiary performs at Woodstock in 1969. In 2008 he released a solo album titled “Nobody Left To Crown.”
Tickets for Ark members go on sale Monday. Tickets go on sale to the general public Dec. 1. The event is a major fundraiser for The Ark, Ann Arbor’s nonprofit home for folk, roots and ethnic music.
