Saline walk shows off great gardens while honoring veterans

By Roger LeLievre

If you want to see some truly great gardens - and maybe get some ideas or helpful tips for tending your own blooms - the Saline Stone and Thistle Garden Club is hosting a garden walk on Saturday, rain or shine.

Between 10 a.m.-4 p.m., participants will be given guided tours of five private and one public garden in the Saline area. The show’s theme is “In the Pink,” and proceeds from the event will be used to honor veterans with a Blue Star Memorial at the Saline Public Library and for breast cancer research via the St. Joseph Mercy Health System.

The whereabouts of the gardens on the tour will be revealed Saturday, with pink balloons and signs pointing the way. There will also be a flower show, courtesy the Sunshine Arrangers Guild, at the Saline library from 10-a.m.- 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Tickets are $10 on the day of the walk or $8 in advance. Tickets may be purchased at Pineapple House, Maureen's Designs, Cobblestone Rose, Saline Flowerland, Nature's Garden Center and Ann Arbor Downtown Home and Garden. On Saturday at 10 a.m., tickets will also available at the Saline Public Library. Details: 734-994-7455.

Well, it is a walk, so they can't be too far apart. I imagine that you would get a starting point (perhaps the library, where the the flower show is?) with your ticket and then follow the signs that are mentioned in the article.. Also, the article states 5 private gardens and 1 public garden.

So, I guess you just purchase tickets and aimlessly wander the Saline area looking for ballons. Please, how about some details here? How many gardens area available etc. Certainly since it is a guided tour people have to begin somewhere.
