Saline Winterfest celebrates the best parts of the season

Last year was not kind to the Saline Winterfest. The lack of snow caused The Snowman Building Championship of the Free World to be canceled. But perhaps this year will be different. It is Michigan, after all. This year's Saline Winterfest will be held on Saturday.

Here is the schedule of activities:

9:00 a.m.: Ice carvings begin around downtown

9:30 - 11:30 a.m.: Kids Activities, games, face painting (in old Spotted Dog location)

11:30 a.m.: Mushing demo (at Henne Field)

Noon: Euchre tournament sponsored by the Chamber (in old Spotted Dog location)

Noon: Ice skating demo (at the ice rink at Henne Field)

1:00 - 3:00 p.m.: The Snowman Building Championship of the Free World (at Henne Field)

3:00 - 3:30 p.m.: Official snowman count

3:30 - 4:00 p.m.: Snowman decorating contest

4:00 - 4:30 p.m.: Decorating contest judging

Saturday, January 26, 2013. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Most events are free; food will be available for purchase. Downtown Saline.

In addition to the awesome events described in the article, there is also a 5k run sponsored by the Saline Middle School Cross Country program. The race starts at 9:00 in front of Saline City Hall.
