Live nightclub reopens following renovations

By Chris Asadian

The downtown nightclub Live, at the corner of First and Huron streets, reopened Friday under new ownership after undergoing some renovations. Photographer Chris Asadian captured these images.

The new management is celebrating the reopening with no cover charge this weekend; doors open at 9 p.m. tonight. Entertainment at the club is expected to be primarily DJs on weekend nights, plus some live music on other nights. Some live entertainment is also planned at the smaller adjoining club around the corner, now renamed The Last Word.

I'm glad to see all the town's cougars have a place to congregate again...

I dunno, everybody looks too old for it to be a gangbanger hangout as previously suggested.

I don't want to sound cynical (but I will) but wait 'till it turns into a gang banger hangout in a few months and the troubles that seem to follow downtown clubs everywhere begin.

All of the reincarnations of the Maud's building have never had this much press. Err, I mean positive press.
