• Pianist Mulgrew Miller has been named artist in residence for this year's Detroit International Jazz Festival. The festival also announced it will honor a group of "Flame Keepers."
• Billy Corgan is clearing the air, sort of, about the nature of his relationship with Jessica Simpson.

• The New York Times reports that the FCC is investigating Fox over an accusation that answers may have been provided to some hopefuls on its now-pulled game show "Our Little Genius."
