Starkid, a Chicago-based theater company of University of Michigan grads, will appear at Michigan Theater
Starkid—the Chicago-based theater company composed of former University of Michigan drama and musical theater graduates, whose original stage musicals (“A Very Potter Musical” and “A Very Potter Sequel” among them) exploded as viral hits online—will present a “greatest hits type stage show” at the Michigan Theater on Friday, Nov. 4.
Doors for this all ages show will open at 7 p.m., and advance tickets—which will go on sale on Saturday, October 8 at 10 a.m. at Livenation.com and Ticketmaster.com—start at $30.
Though “Glee”'s Darren Criss is part of Starkid, having starred in and created music for the Potter productions, he is not currently expected to participate in the Michigan Theater show.
“Darren is not slated to be on our date right now because of his “Glee” taping schedule,” LiveNation.com marketing/booking agent Shannon DeVries wrote in an e-mail.
The Ann Arbor date is the first on the 14-city tour, which wraps up in New York on Nov. 26. Criss is expected to be part of the New York show.

The Theatre Department at the U of M is one of the most prestigious theatre departments in the country. They seem to consistently attract stellar, creative and gifted students, and these Starkid people aren't even from the musical theatre program. And the plays I see there are pretty much always well acted, with wonderful sets and costumes, Ann Arbor should be grateful that a research university, which concentrates on academics and sports, has such a first-class Theatre Department.
