Tee off in the "First Annual Campfire Classic Golf Outing" raising funds for North Star Reach on Monday at Travis Pointe Country Club. 8:30 a.m. registration, practice and continental breakfast. ENTERTAINMENT

The Annual UA Block Party will be held on Monday in downtown Ann Arbor. 6-10 p.m. Classic cars, hot rods, and muscle cars, and live music by the RFD Boys, will all be on the streets. There will be plumbing and pipefitting demos in the Palio parking lot. Food will be available from area restaurants, with dining tables in the street. The event is part of the annual convention of the United Association, the plumbers and pipefitters union. Free admission. On Main St. between Huron and William, and on Washington between Ashley and Fourth Ave.

SELF DEFENSE

Learn "What You Need to Know" about self defense at the Ann Arbor District Library with the staff from Master Lockman's Black Belt Academy on Tuesday. 7-8 p.m. They will talk about the mental and physical training needed for self-defense situations. You will learn how to be aware of and how to avoid threatening situations, which self-defense techniques are most effective in standing and ground situations, and see some demonstrations. Free. MUSIC

Nashbash 2012 will be held in the Farmers Market parking lot on Thursday. 5-8:30 p.m. This mini country music festival is headlined by Kathy Hussey. Opening acts include Whit Hill & the Postcards, The Haphazards, local singer-songwriter Matt Boylan, and the local alt-country trio Hoodang. There will be an artisan market and Trunkapalooza trunk sales. Barbecue and drinks will be available. Free admission. 315 Detroit St., Ann Arbor.
