The Ann Arbor Art Fair seeks submissions for Kids' Art Fair

By Jenn McKee

The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original, has put out a call for Washtenaw County students, grades 3-8, to submit artwork for the juried 2013 Kids' Art Fair, held during the Townie Street Party that precedes the Ann Arbor Art Fair.

Drop-in jury sessions will happen at the Ann Arbor District Library Pittsfield Branch (2359 Oak Valley Dr. in Ann Arbor) and are scheduled for Sunday, April 28 from 1-3 p.m.; Wednesday, May 1 from 5-7 p.m.; and Sunday, May 5 from 1-3 p.m. Students should bring 4 to 6 samples of their original artwork to one of these sessions and be prepared to talk to jurors.

A press release provides further details:

The Kids’ Art Fair is a unique opportunity for young artists to sell their original artwork and interact with the community at the Townie Street Party. In addition, this is a great chance for young artists to see the jury process at work and to interact with arts educators on a one-on-one basis. The young artists receive individual attention by the Jurors and the positive feedback is often very empowering.

… Young artists invited to exhibit at the Kids’ Art Fair will be notified by email in mid-May. The selected artists will be able to sell their work under tents at the July 15th Townie Street Party, which takes place on E. Washington between Thayer and Fletcher and on Ingalls Mall.

The Ann Arbor District Library, Pittsfield Branch is located at 2359 Oak Valley Drive. For more information on this event please call 734-994-5260 or visit www.artfair.org.
