'The Five Year Engagement' poster and trailer surface online
"The Five Year Engagement," a movie comedy filmed primarily in Ann Arbor earlier this year, has released a poster image and a two-and-a-half-minute trailer online, as well as a wedding blog that focuses on the film's main characters, Tom and Violet.
Produced by Judd Apatow ("Bridesmaids," "Knocked Up," "The 40 Year Old Virgin"), directed by Nicholas Stoller ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall"), and written by Stoller and Jason Segel ("How I Met Your Mother" and "The Muppets"), "Engagement" stars Segel (Tom) and Emily Blunt (Violet) as an engaged couple whose way to the altar is delayed initially by a professional opportunity (at the University of Michigan) that Violet can't pass up.
Also starring Mindy Kaling, Chris Parnell, Alison Brie, Rhys Ifans, Chris Pratt, and Kevin Hart, the film is currently slated for an April 27, 2012 release, according to IMDB.com. Local filming took place at Liberty Square Plaza, Main Street, The Cavern Club, Zingerman's Bakehouse, outside Beezy's Cafe in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor's Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Palmer House, U-M's Angell Hall, and a personal residence on Berkshire Road, among other locations.
