From the same crew who brought you the awesomeness that was, "Les Miserablés: School Edition", comes an equally awesome production of the timeless love story...Elton John style! That's right dear readers; Elton John and Time Rice's AIDA opens this week! Based off of Giuseppe Verdi's opera of the same name, AIDA is a contemporary rock musical with music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice. Hence the names being a part of the official title.

Set in ancient Egypt, AIDA is the story of two star-crossed lovers; one a captain of the Egyptian army and the other a princess-turned-slave, whose country has been conquered by the powerful Egyptian force. As hate gives way to love and all that they've known is suddenly turned upside-down, the two realize they must make a choice; either part forever, or die together. Included in the incredible cast of characters are a young, street-wise servant with a knack for getting into high-security locations, the crafty and cruel vizier bent on having his son, the captain, take over the throne by any means necessary, and the beautiful, materialistic and carefree daughter of the Pharaoh, caught up in events that she can't control or even quite understand.

With intricate choreography, stunning lighting effects, incredible singing and an amazing pop-rock score that includes Motown jams and Reggae grooves (oh yeah), AIDA is a surefire crowd-pleaser about war, death, deceit, courage, freedom, slavery, sacrifice, hope, and, of course, the transcending bonds of true love, unstoppable by even death itself.

Playing for 4 days straight; Thursday, February 11th through Saturday February 13th at 7:30 P.M., and on Sunday, February 14th at 3 P.M. Location is the Paul K. Meyers Auditorium, Huron High School, 2727 Fuller Rd. $12 for general public, $10 for senior/student and $40 for a family of 4. Hope to see you all there!!
