The University of Michigan musical theater department's studio production of the celebrated stage musical adaptation of Frank Wedekind's "Spring Awakening"—with book and lyrics by Steven Sater, music by Duncan Sheik—plays at the Arthur Miller Theatre Feb. 10-19.

Winner of 8 Tony Awards, including best musical, "Spring Awakening" was called "haunting and electrifying" by The New York Times. Adapted from Wedekind's 1891 expressionist play about the trials, tears, and exhilaration of the teen years, "Spring Awakening" celebrates the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with power, poignancy, and passion.

Declared by Entertainment Weekly to be "the most gorgeous Broadway score this decade," "Spring Awakening" features a fusion of morality, sexuality and rock and roll. This production is being directed by Malcolm Tulip, who directed past studio productions like, "Our Country’s Good" and "All’s Well That Ends Well."

Recommended for mature audiences due to mature content, including brief partial nudity, sexual situations, and strong language.
