UMS seeking volunteer ushers for upcoming season

The University Musical Society, the semi-autonomous performing-arts presenting group affiliated with the University of Michigan, is seeking volunteer ushers for its upcoming season.

During the 2011-12 season, UMS will present more than 60 performances in six venues in Ann Arbor, including Hill Auditorium, Rackham Auditorium, the Power Center, the Michigan Theater, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

Anyone interested in becoming an usher must attend one orientation session. All orientation sessions will be held in Auditorium 3 of the Modern Languages Building at 812 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor.

New usher orientation sessions, for those who did not usher last season for UMS, are scheduled:

• Wednesday, August 24, 7-9 p.m.

• Thursday, August 25, 6-8 p.m.

• Monday, August 29, 7-9 p.m.

• Wednesday, August 31, 6-8 p.m.

Returning usher orientation sessions, for those who did usher with UMS last season, are scheduled:

• Wednesday, August 24, 6-7 p.m.

• Thursday, August 25, 8-9 p.m.

• Monday, August 29, 6-7 p.m.

• Wednesday, August 31, 8-9 p.m.
