UMS single tickets go on sale Monday; additional performances announced

Tickets for individual events in the upcoming University Musical Society season go on sale next week.

UMS is a semi-autonomous presenter of performing-arts events—classical music, jazz, theater and more—at the University of Michigan. The upcoming season includes appearances by the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra with Michael Tilson Thomas, the Chicago Symphony featuring violinist Pinchas Zuckerman, Ahmad Jamal, and much more.

All tickets will go on sale online on Monday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. at www.ums.org.

Phone and in-person sales begin Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 10 am at the Michigan League Ticket Office (911 North University Avenue) or by calling the UMS Ticket Office at 734-764-2538 (toll-free 800-221-1229). Michigan League Ticket Office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Beginning Tuesday, September 6, the League Ticket Office will resume extended hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Season additions

UMS also announced several additional performances:

Dan Zanes & Friends: Sunday, September 25 at 1 and 4 p.m. at the Power Center (family-friendly performance)

Bill T. Jones’s FELA! Sunday, February 19 at 3 p.m. at Detroit Music Hall (Note: While UMS subscribers and donors can currently purchase tickets to FELA!, they will not be available to the general public until October 1.)

• National Theatre Live — high-definition broadcasts of the National Theater of London, in partnership with the Michigan Theater: Richard Bean’s "One Man, Two Guvnors,: Sunday, October 9, 7 p.m.; Arnold Wesker’s "The Kitchen," Sunday, October 30, 4 p.m.; John Hodge’s "The Collaborators," Sunday, January 8, 4 p.m.; Title TBA, Sunday, February 19, 7 p.m.; Shakespeare’s "The Comedy of Errors," Sunday, March 18, 7 p.m.

UMS also announced that its concert by Denis Matsuev, piano, which was originally scheduled for Thursday, March 15 at Hill Auditorium, has been changed to Monday, January 23 at 7:30 p.m.
