The Monster (a.k.a Zachary Storey)—well known around Ann Arbor for playing his violin on the streets while wearing a werewolf mask, and occasionally howling—kicked off the tour Thursday with a date at The Last Word in Ann Arbor. His tour will take him to venues in Indiana, Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina.

He's also recording an album, and an update on his Facebook page earlier this month says it's "almost finished."

For more information, check out the Violin Monster's website, find full tour details on his Facebook page, and follow him on Twitter. And check out past coverage of the Violin Monster here.

I will tell my students that they, too, can make it big with Suzuki Book 1 tunes as long as they wear a mask.

Again, he is allowed to stand on the streets, typically corners, wear a mask and play a violin, but, the Michael Jackson dancer wasn't allowed to do so because he was....in an ally. Really? Is this the "only" difference? Good grief Ann Arbor. She really used to be a very different city.

All that's important in this story is that he is going away.
