Orff’s cantata "Carmina Burana," one of the most popular symphonic works of all time, combines medieval sounds and poetry with the orchestral power of the modern era. Led by Music Director Arie Lipsky, the A2SO will be joined by soloists Mary Wilson, Tim Culver, and Paul Grizzell, as well as several local vocal ensembles: Measure for Measure, the Boychoir of Ann Arbor, the Ann Arbor Youth Chorale and choirs of Huron, Pioneer, and Skyline high schools.
The concert also features Kernis' "New Era Dance" and Brahms’ "Variations on a Theme by Joseph Haydn" before the main event. It will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at Hill Auditorium, the University of Michigan's storied concert hall.
Ten pairs of tickets will be given away.
