Young artists' work sought for display at Townie Street Party

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Young artists have two chances this week to submit their work for consideration to be displayed as part of this year's Townie Street Party, the annual lead-in to the Ann Arbor Art Fairs.

The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair — the sponsor of the Townie Party, and one of the four fairs that concurrently make up the Ann Arbor Art Fairs — welcomes artists from Washtenaw County in third through eighth grades to submit their work to be juried for the 2011 Kids Art Fair, to be held as part of the Townie Party July 18, 5-9:30 p.m.

Two jury sessions are planned at the Ann Arbor District Library's Pittsifeld Branch, Wednesday, April 13, from 5-8 p.m.; and Sunday, April 17, 2:30-5:30 p.m. Artists in third-eighth grade should arrive with four to six samples of their original artwork and be prepared to talk to jurors. You need to attend only one of these two sessions. Artists will have ample opportunity to show and discuss their art work with each juror. The Kids’ Art Fair is a unique opportunity for young artists to sell their original artwork and interact with the community at the Townie Street Party. In addition, this is a chance for young artists to see the jury process at work and to interact with art jurors. Young artists invited to exhibit at the Kids’ Art Fair, will be notified by email or phone the week following the second jury session. These artists will be able to sell their work under a large tent at the Townie Street Party, which takes place on Washington, between Thayer and Fletcher, around the fountain on Ingalls Mall. The Ann Arbor District Library, Pittsfield Branch is located at 2359 Oak Valley Drive in Ann Arbor. For more information on this event please call 734-994-5260 or visit www.artfair.org.

This year's Ann Arbor Art Fairs run July 20-23.
