The Crossroads Summer Music Festival returns to the streets of Ypsilanti this summer, with a recently announced schedule running the gamut from country to R&B to jazz/world.

Sponsored by the Downtown Association of Ypsilanti, the free event closes North Washington Street in the heart of downtown Ypsilanti on Friday nights during July and August. In addition to the music, the festival offers food, artists, jewelers, retailers and free family activities.

The event runs each Friday, July 8-Aug. 19. The festival has previously started in June, but Dave Heikkenen, president of DAY, explained in an email that the closure of Savoy/Pub 13, a major supporter, plus past experience with rains in June led to the decision to scale back the dates. The festival is now fully self-supporting, he noted.
