The Ann Arbor Public Schools Music Department presents Orchestra Night.
This gala concert showcases the orchestras of all Ann Arbor middle schools plus Skyline, Huron, and Pioneer high schools playing great music in beautiful Hill Auditorium. Over 800 students perform in this
annual event featuring the string department.
Special Guests:
Professor Christopher Lees will guest conduct the Tappan and coach the Huron Orchestra. Oriol Sans will coach the Skyline Orchestra, Kevin Miller will coach the Forsythe, Ann Arbor Open, Slauson, and Pioneer
Orchestras, and E. Daniel Long will coach the Clague Orchestra.
The Skyline Symphony Orchestra will perform the finale from Dvorak's New World Symphony. The Huron Symphony Orchestra will perform the final movement of Johannes Brahms's Symphony No. 4. The Pioneer
Symphony Orchestra will perform the last last two movements of Symphony No. 2 by Jean Sibelius.
The high school orchestras in Ann Arbor play music of the masters in the same editions used by professional orchestras. Their artistry has been recognized by music educator groups and audiences across the country and in Europe. Both Pioneer and Huron high schools have been recognized as GRAMMY Signature Schools, an honor given to the top one hundred public school music departments nationwide. The middle school groups that feed them show the achievement, enthusiasm and effort young people put into their music.
Bring the whole family to an evening of exciting and inspiring performances by Ann Arbor¹s public school students!
