The University Musical Society (UMS) marks the holiday season with its annual performance of Handel’s "Messiah" by the UMS Choral Union with the Ann Arbor Symphony under the baton of Jerry Blackstone. An Ann Arbor tradition since 1879 in the beautiful surroundings of Hill Auditorium, these performances are ultimately the heart of UMS, connecting audiences with the talented people on stage, but also with the friends and family who attend each year. Jerry Blackstone will conduct the combined talents of the UMS Choral Union and the Ann Arbor Symphony. Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, who is gaining a reputation as one of the rising stars of the next generation of singers, will join soloists Ava Pine, soprano; Robert Bracey, tenor; and Kyle Ketelsen, baritone.
