In playwright Tim Kelly’s snappy adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most popular novel, Sherlock Holmes (Tom Underwood) heads to the moor with his colleague Dr. Watson (Jon Elliott) to protect Sir Henry Baskerville (Nick Boyer) from an ancient family curse that is suspected of killing his late uncle. The curse manifests in the form of a gigantic, supernatural hound – but does the mythic beast really exist, or is it a distraction carefully maintained and manipulated by a murderer? Everyone at Baskerville Hall has something to hide, and Holmes sorts through their stories in his singular style.

Civic mainstay Charles Sutherland plays Barrymore, the butler, and Breeda Kelly Miller is Mrs. Barrymore, the housekeeper. Other familiar faces are David Widmayer as neighbor Jack Stapleton and Brittany Batell as Perkins, the maid. Civic newcomers include Sarah Burgin as Lady Agatha Mortimer, Anna Paone as Laura Lyons, and Danielle Nicholls as Sir Henry’s love interest, Kathy Stapleton.

Fans of the novel will be pleased to see much of Conan Doyle’s original dialogue intact, but playwright Kelly also has a few new tricks up his sleeve, designed to baffle both the savviest amateur sleuth in the audience and the world of fiction’s greatest consulting detective.
