Bach Advent celebration at First Baptist

By Brent Lofgren

The Itinerant Chorister took part today in the performance of J.S. Bach's cantata "Nun Komm der Heiden Heiland" with the choir of First Baptist Church at 517 E. Washington Street in Ann Arbor. This is a piece of music for Advent that took over a major part of the worship service and occasioned the use of a group of instrumentalists to add to the choir. Although doing a cantata like this was somewhat of a departure for this congregation, it created a meaningful worship experience for those there to hear the music along with reflections from Pastor Paul Simpson Duke.
