By Pam Stout

On the cusp of Holy Week, Christianity's important days leading up to Easter Sunday, NPR's Barbara Bradley Hagerty discusses strong reactions to a new book by Brian McLaren, an influential and controversial voice in the evangelical community. In A New Kind of Christianity, McLaren raises questions about widely accepted Biblical interpretations and suggests a different approach, perhaps more relevant to younger evangelicals.

Reactions to his suggestions have angered some conservatives, particularly the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. who convened a school-wide event to discuss McLaren's assertions.

Chris- I too, am interested. I have read the book, and frankly, I was underwhelmed. It is just a lot of the kind of stuff that basically denies most of what the Bible has to say, unless Mr McLaren can get the doctrine to fit his left-leaning, politically-correct worldview.
