Could the next Dalai Lama be a woman?

April Bogle at the Huffington Post shares an amusing reflection on the possibility of a female Dalai Lama to succeed Tenzin Gyatso, His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama, who is currently 75 years old.

Apparently His Holiness thinks it is quite possible, if the Tibetan people and culture would accept it. But of greater concern, according to one follower, is whether the next Dalai Lama will continue the current legacy of "bringing compassion into the international spectrum, not to advocate for Buddhism but to show there are different ways — rather than money and jobs — of being happy?"
