'On Being' host Krista Tippett to discuss spirituality and parenting tonight in Birmingham

Krista Tippett, journalist, author and Peabody-award winning broadcaster of the public radio program "On Being," is teaming up with author, psychotherapist and teacher Sylvia Boorstein for a live appearance in Metro Detroit.

Spirituality & Parenting: A Conversation on Wisdom and Learning for the Modern Family will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the The Community House at 380 S. Bates St. in Birmingham.

WDET and Metro Parent magazine promise a "lively conversation on children, parenting and the deep traditions that can nourish modern families."

Boorstein, co-founder of the Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California, brings together Jewish tradition and thought with a lifelong Buddhist practice. Author of "Happiness Is an Inside Job," she offers years of experience as a parent and teacher of mindfulness meditation.
