New Hope Baptist Church in Ann Arbor uses its name and history as themes

By Brent Lofgren

This week The Itinerant Chorister visited and sang in the men's choir at New Hope Baptist Church at 218 Chapin, just west of downtown Ann Arbor. A theme that was woven through the worship was hope in the face of adversity, including a song called "Hallelujah Anyhow," which in my mind tied into a previous visit that I made there in the wake of Sept. 11. For Memorial Day, they also remembered those who have gone before, and honored those graduating from high schools and universities.
