While Halloween is big business, Samhain is spiritual for Pagan faithful
Patheos.com has a reflection on the spiritual meaning of Samhain (pronounced SOW-inn), a religious holiday for Pagan faiths which include Wiccans and Newpagans.
Star Foster, manager of the Pagan Portal at Patheos explains:
"Legend has it that the veil between the world we live in, and the spirit world beyond, thins on this night. . .for Pagans it means you are closer to your ancestors than at any other time of the year. We honor them by telling their stories, displaying their photographs, and inviting them to share the night with us."

Well this is a disappointment. As a pagan, it is nice to see some attention brought to it, but I find it silly to click on an article only to read a few sentences and be directed to another website. If you're going to do the article, please don't just find a cool webpage and "share it" online, this is a news site and I would hope you are informed on the topic you present to us. Also, Pagan is a pretty broad term (celtics, wiccans, druids, satanists, any other nature-based religion) and not all pagan religions recognize Samhain. This could have been an amazingly interesting article. Good luck next year.

In fairness, they did do a larger article and interviewed me the previous year: http://www.annarbor.com/faith/witches-and-pumpkins-and-a-celtic-new-year-local-pagan-reverend-explains-halloweens-history-and-mode/ Here's hoping for a longer article next time as well!
