Genetic test was effective at identifying diet that helped individuals lose weight

Here's a look at some of the top health news being talked about around the U.S. and the world today:
• A genetic test was effective at identifying the diet that would best help certain people lose weight - whether it be low-fat or low-carb, the Wall Street Journal reported. The study, performed by Stanford University researchers, looked at 133 overweight women for a year.
• Has a person had sex? New research supports the idea that there is no common consensus on exactly what that means in the general public. That could mean many don't believe certain sexual health risks pertain to them and can pose data issues to researchers, the Los Angeles Times is reporting.
• U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told health insurance executives on Thursday they need more transparency about skyrocketing premiums, the Indianapolis Star reported.
• A massive recall could be announced soon, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said, after a food additive commonly used in salad dressing, soup mixes, hotdogs and more was found to possibly be contaminated with salmonella, the New York Times is reporting. However, regulators have said the risk of illness is seen as low.
• Bacteria found in the human gut might be linked to certain diseases and even obesity, a group of international researchers found, according to Reuters. More research is needed to catalog bacteria in the gut and study the link.
