New warning for guacamole and salsa lovers from government report

Here's a look at some of the top health news being talked about around the U.S. and the world today:

• Love to chow down on some guacamole and salsa through the summer months? Chew on this — the popular foods are among those most likely to spread food borne illness, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention covered by the Los Angeles Times.

• New records show drugmaker SmithKline Beecham tried to hide a study which showed its diabetes drug Avandia was riskier to the heart than a competing drug called Actos, the New York Times reported.

• A gene that increases the risk of obesity may also increase a person's risk for Alzheimer's disease and dementia, according to a Swedish study reported by BusinessWeek.
