WANTED: Cancer survivors for a PBS show

By Betsy de Parry

That's right! If you're a survivor or a family member of a survivor, your story can inspire and inform others - and now's your chance to tell it on PBS!

ABOUT THE SHOW: In the first ever television show devoted to exploring the challenges of cancer, A Wider World, which airs in several markets in the U.S. and Canada, will soon devote part of each show to a variety of topics of interest that are common to people with all kinds of cancers.

Until now, this weekly, half hour, magazine-style format show has focused on disabilities issues.

I'll be hosting these segments and will be interviewing physicians, survivors and family members. Pretty exciting, huh?

WHEN: Filming will take place during the summer. Specific dates are yet to be determined. Shows will begin airing on Nov. 1.

WHERE: University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center and other locations in southeast Michigan to be determined.

HOW CAN YOU HELP? Whether you're newly diagnosed or years beyond, in treatment or out, survivors are needed for several subjects. If you're interested in learning more, please email me, and I'll send you more information.

And if you know someone who might be interested, please share this.

You can also call me at 734-216-5872.

DEADLINE: We need to finalize our guests by the end of May — so don't delay if you're interested in learning more.

Thanks, and I hope to hear from you!
