Send in your photos for the AnnArbor.com Virtual Buck Pole

By Jen Eyer

For first-time hunters and seasoned pros alike, bagging a buck is a point of pride.

If you're a hunter and you've already scored this season, you can share your success in our 2011 AnnArbor.com Virtual Buck Pole.

Just email a photo of yourself with your buck to community@annarbor.com, and we'll add it to the photo gallery above. Photos should be at least 1200 pixels wide. Be sure to include your full name, your city or township of residence, and the location where you shot the deer.

Feel free to include any other details, such as how long you've been hunting, what type of gun you used, why you enjoy hunting, and how you took down this particular buck.

If we get enough entries, we may include a reader poll, with the winner being featured in upcoming stories in print and online.

Nice job AnnArbor.com covering deer season. We appreciate your coverage and not caving to the leftest liberals and their soy burgers. Man has hunted since the beginning and will continue to do so. I have taught my children to hunt and am proud of it. Keep up the coverage!

AA.com commenters proving again that some folks can manage over-the-top name calling on both sides no matter what the issue. Lots of liberals hunt in Michigan, and there is no fun in watching animals die. Grow up.

@Loopy, "I eat meat, but I don't give other people grief about what they eat or how they get it." Ummm, it sure sounds as if you're giving this article and hunters grief, doesn't it? Maybe you should re-think your statement.

@loopy, "We just don't get off on firing a bullet into a living creature and watching it die just for the fun of it." there is soo much wrong with this statement. many hunters supplement their food throughout the year with an annual deer harvest. sometimes two or three years...(it's been a few since i enjoyed firing a bullet into a livin creature and watching it die.). we primarily hunt in an area where there is an amish community. they LIVE off this harvest for their lively hood. as of yesterday, the amish neighbors have shot 3 'just for the fun of it"

Contrary to your bias, "leftest" [sic] don't all want to outlaw hunting. We just don't get off on firing a bullet into a living creature and watching it die just for the fun of it. We'll leave that to the "rightest" and the culture of life. I eat meat, but I don't give other people grief about what they eat or how they get it. The self-righteousness of hunters is really annoying.
