Receiver Calvin Johnson, after missing one day with a thigh injury, returned to practice on Thursday and will start Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Receiver Mike Furrey, who was sidelined last week after suffering a concussion against Jacksonville, went through some individual drills but it's unlikely he'll play.

Center Dominic Raiola didn't work out on Wednesday but was ruled out for Sunday's game. Raiola (broken right thumb) is waiting for a special cast that might allow him to play and snap with his right hand. Defensive end Dewayne White (calf) did not practice and isn't expected to play.

I like dwayne white but it is kinda nice that he is out so we can see what are younger players have to offer.

Posted by kenhawk on 11/20/08 at 2:32PM

Is it just me or is Killers mustache a little crooked there on the left.

Posted by wybears on 11/20/08 at 2:33PM

Another home game, another blackout...nicely done!

Posted by firemayhew on 11/20/08 at 2:51PM

Does it really matter. Most exciting part of this year will be when everyone is fired.

Posted by lioninchi on 11/20/08 at 2:53PM

Please put Dominic Raiola on IR. The team has been better without getting pushed off the line of scrimmage. And please bench Peterman; the guy gets eaten alive in pass protection.

    Posted by mlb4me on 11/20/08 at 3:35PM

    Kenhawk,

I think the mustache is straight...his face is crooked.

As for Raiola, it does appear the OL has played just as well without him (if not better) so I'm in no hurry to have him back.

Has anyone ever compaired pictures of the golfer Craig Stadler aka "The Walrus" and Killer? Take a look at this.

First game without Raiola, BLOCKED FG!
Go back and 'look at the tape'. McCollum is TURTLED BY THE SNAP!! That's why they had a WIDE OPEN lane up the middle!
McCollum plays much worse than Raiola. And McCollum next to Peterman is a disaster.

34K got most of his yards running behind the tackles, NOT the center, because the center was usually in the backfield.

Also, 34K started getting twice as many carries the week Raiola went out, so you cannot compare the running game without Raiola until 34K gets 25 carries a game with DR in.

    tahoe,

for the most part I agree with everything you said...but for the blocked FG I would remind you that Raiola doesn't snap on FG's or Punts..Don Mulbach does all the long snapping for the Lions and has all year...McCollum stuggles with pulling he is slower than Riola, but is bigger so he is harder to push back..

I do agree all 34K's big runs last week were behind the hated Jeff Backus..

    Posted by sorryimback1 on 11/20/08 at 4:33PM

what the hell is a "speach"???

    do you mean speech???

Posted by tahoe on 11/20/08 at 4:53PM

    DOH!
TJ, thanks for the correction, it was Mulbach that got the turtle treatment.

Thank you for setting him straight

speach - definition - The act of verbally communicating with a mouthful of schnapps.

Posted by BassetHounds on 11/20/08 at 6:23PM

For once I agree with Drew Sharpe, the NFL should waive the Blackout in Detroit. We are as depressed of a city with over 10% unemployment as New Orl. was when they waived thier blackouts.

    BassetHounds,

No "bailout" for the Lions. They made their own bed with poor management. ;-)

Posted by grmick on 11/20/08 at 7:09PM

Dont matter the lions suck regardless. I gave up my season ticks this year cuz all I did at the games was drink beer and holler at PIF. The lions were the last priority in my book.
