ISSUE OF THE DAY
Michigan All-American point guard Trey Burke started the season off in John Beilein's dog house, as he was suspended for the team's first exhibition game due to a "violation of team standards."
Beilein insists Burke has learned his lesson, and appears to have put the matter to bed. Burke was present on the bench for Michigan's win over Northern Michigan last Friday, and seemed to be all smiles in support of his team while wearing a suit and tie from the sidelines.
He watched backup point guard Spike Albrecht hand out six assists and lead a very balanced offensive attack that focused on ball movement and unselfishness. So much so that no player too more than 9 shots in the game.
Burke will return tonight, and the game won't matter because it's an exhibition, but what type of message will he send? Will he insist on getting his teammates involved, will he show cohesion with the new influx of talent on the court, or will he struggle to adapt to all the new options Michigan might have on offense?
Burke is Michigan's best player -- he was last year, he is again this year. But how will he fit in with this team, and how will he bounce back from a rather disappointing (and somewhat embarrassing) start to his sophomore season? We'll start finding out tonight.
What are you expecting from Trey Burke in his season debut Thursday night?
