Michigan to increase seat donation prices for most football season tickets
Michigan has announced it will increase its seat donation requirement for most season football tickets beginning in 2013. All non-student seating now will require donations.
Seat donation programs also will be adjusted for select seating at men's basketball and hockey games.
The per game price for a football season ticket will not change, staying at $65.
The donation price levels for football in 2013 will vary depending on location: Indoor Club ($4,000), Outdoor club ($1,500-$3,000), WSCB ($1,250-$2,000), Victors ($600), Valiant ($475), Maize ($350), Blue ($200) and End Zone ($75). Payments are due Feb. 15.
The donation price levels for this past season: Indoor club ($4,000), Outdoor Club ($1,500-$3,000), WSCB ($1,250-$2,000), Victors ($500), Valiant ($375), Maize ($250), Blue ($125) and End Zone ($50).
Those who have held season tickets in the end zone since before the 2005 season will have their rates phased in: $37.50 per seat in 2013, $75 per seat in 2014.
The seat donation levels compare favorably to other elite Big Ten programs, according to a Michigan news release. Ohio State's donations are $750 for seating that compares to the Victors, Valiant, Maize, Blue and end zone areas. Nebraska's range from $250 to $3,500 for the same areas.
Michigan State's range from $25 to $600 for those areas.
What is the Preferred Seat Donation program? According to a news release:
The Preferred Seat Donation program was first implemented for football in 2005 to help raise funds to support all of Michigan's athletic teams and to enhance the experience for all student-athletes. The PSD program has been expanded since then to include seating areas for men's basketball and ice hockey, and it now supports 31 teams and more than 900 student-athletes.
Men's basketball seat donation prices: Club ($1,500), Victors ($500), Valiant ($250) and Blue ($100).
Ice hockey donations: Upper Level Club ($750, $1,000 and $1,500 per seat), Ice Level Seating ($2,000 per seat), six-seat Champions Boxes ($9,000) and eight-seat Champions Boxes ($16,000).
