Michigan's Nik Stauskas wins second straight Big Ten Freshman of the Week award
ANN ARBOR -- He wasn't the most talked about or highest-rated, but it's hard to argue against the fact that Nik Stauskas has been the Michigan basketball team's top freshman early this season.
On top of that, he might be the Big Ten's best freshman to this point as well.
The 6-foot-6 Michigan wing took home his second straight Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor Monday afternoon, as announced by the league office.
Stauskas averaged 21 points over Michigan's wins against No. 18 North Carolina State and Bradley last week, shooting 67 percent from 3-point range for the week.
Nebraska's Andrew Almeida was named the league's Player of the Week.
For the season, Stauskas is Michigan's third-leading scorer at 14.3 points per game. He's shooting 62.1 percent from 3-point range, 57.7 percent overall and 95.7 percent from the foul line.
Stauskas and No. 3 Michigan (7-0) return to Crisler Center on Tuesday to host Western Michigan (8:30 p.m., Big Ten Network).
