ANN ARBOR -- Technically, the Michigan basketball team is about to begin a title defense.

After winning a share of the 2011-12 Big Ten championship, the second-ranked Wolverines will officially open their 2012-13 conference slate Thursday at Northwestern.

So, can they repeat? Can they win a league crown outright this time?
