COLUMBUS, Ohio --
Ohio State 37, Michigan 29
-- 14:58, second half
-- This is a 14-3 run by dating back to the close of the first half. Mitch McGary's putback brings Michigan within single digits for the first time in seemingly ever. If Michigan's going to come back and do this, though, Tim Hardaway needs to wake up -- he's 1 of 8.
Ohio State 34, Michigan 22
Michigan shoots 7 of 19 from the floor and 9 turnovers in the first half. In short, the Wolverines are extremely lucky to be down just 12. Spike Albrecht leading the way with 7 points -- anyone predict that?
Ohio State 34, Michigan 22
-- :36.7, first half
Michigan on a 7-0 run to get within 12, showing a bit of a spark. Spike Albrecht has been the team's best player. He's got 7 points, and has been the only player with consistent life. The Wolverines had a chance to cut it to 10, but Tim Hardaway Jr. turned it over.
Ohio State 31, Michigan 13
-- 3:42, first half
Michigan still with twice as many turnovers (8) as made baskets (4). A total nightmare of a half for the Wolverines. The only way they can salvage this is to somehow get this closer to 10 at the break.
Ohio State 28, Michigan 8
-- 7:33, first half
Michigan 3 of 12 with 8 turnovers. Easily the Wolverines' worst half of the season. Ohio State's making it look easy.
Ohio State 24, Michigan 6
-- 10:08, first half
Michigan's nightmare continues. Make that seven turnovers in the game's first 10 minutes. Wolverines are 2 of 10 from the floor. Ohio State clobbering the Wolverines in literally every area.
Ohio State 18, Michigan 6
Five turnovers already for Michigan. The Buckeyes run extended to 16-0 before a Glenn Robinson III triple finally stopped it. Michigan in deep stuff here early. Wolverines look like a mess at both ends of the floor.
Ohio State 13, Michigan 3
-- 13:51, first half
Not the start you wanted if you're Michigan -- the Wolverines a serious mess in the halfcourt, now 1 of 7 from the field. The Buckeyes have scored 13 straight points. And Aaron Craft -- of all people, has 7 of them.
Ohio State 9, Michigan 3
-- 15:20, first half
Michigan misses five straight shots and commits two turnovers. Ohio State is slowing the game down here, and uses a 9-0 run to take the early advantage here in Columbus. Michigan 1 of 5 from the floor to start, Ohio State 4 of 8. Mitch McGary checks in for Jordan Morgan.
• Michigan starters same as usual: Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr., Nik Stauskas, Glenn Robinson III and Jordan Morgan.
What's in a number?
Depends on who you ask.
Michigan coach John Beilein has continually maintained that he doesn't care about his basketball team's record or its ranking.
Everyone else? Well, most seem much more interested.
No. 2 Michigan (16-0, 3-0) can clinch the first 17-0 start in school history Sunday (1:30 p.m., CBS) when it travels to No. 15 Ohio State (12-3, 2-1).
And, if the Wolverines can manage a victory, they'll almost certainly rise to No. 1 in both major polls come Monday, given Duke's loss to North Carolina State on Saturday.
Buckle up, this should be a good one.
