Add Juwan Howard to the list of ex-Fab Fivers that want to return to Michigan, per John Beilein
Jimmy King says Chris Webber's ready to mend fences with the university, and Jalen Rose wants everyone to watch a Michigan NCAA tournament game from a courtside seat.
Apparently, you can also add former Fab Five standout Juwan Howard to the list of people who want to re-connect with the Michigan basketball program.
Howard -- who won an NBA title last season with the Miami Heat -- was not in town over the weekend for Michigan's Crisler Center re-dedication ceremony, but Michigan coach John Beilein says he's been in touch with Howard, and says he badly wants to return to campus and see all the new developments that have gone on around the program.
"Juwan Howard wanted to come back badly, but he had already booked (a vacation) for (NBA) All-Star weekend," Beilein said on his radio show Monday night. "But he'll be back.
"Juwan Howard will be back, he's really excited about coming back."
Michigan welcomed back roughly 120 former players from every decade since the 1960s over the weekend for its special reunion event.
Beilein got to spend time with former greats like Cazzie Russell and Phil Hubbard, and also got to re-connect with more recent players -- like Darius Morris and Zack Novak.
"I didn't know Darius was coming back," Beilein remarked. "I got to talk to them after the game, we talked about the Lakers and his life right now, we're very hopeful right now. He's got to continue to build his brand and where he'll be next year, who knows, but he's a heck of a player."
Beilein also said that on Friday night, the team presented a piece of the old Crisler Arena floor to every player in attendance.
It was a weekend full of smiles and reminiscing, and one Beilein said was desperately needed as the program continues its effort to rebuild a bridge to its past.
"We made the first really big stride to try and bring everybody together this weekend," he said. "We pulled out all the stops. It was terrific.
"I think a lot of healing went on, a lot of re-connection went on. We're all Michigan. … Everybody was really connected, and it was a good thing."
