$1,000 grant helps Mitchell Elementary expand its Listening Library

By Stefanie Murray

Expansion of Mitchell Elementary School's Listening Library this year has given early elementary students a longer reading list to choose from, according to an article from the AAPSNews Service.

The school expanded the numbers of titles in its books on CD collection as well as the genres of books available to appeal to more students, according to the article. The expansion was funded in part by a $1,000 grant from the Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation.

Listening to "CDs while reading along help students develop fluency in their reading as well as helping with comprehension and vocabulary," the article said.
