Angell Elementary School holds 7th annual talent show at New Life Church
The students of Angell Elementary School took to the stage Wednesday night for a chance to show off their varied talents to an audience of proud parents, teachers, and classmates. A night filled with 38 acts, this year's talent show excitement stopped only for a short popcorn break at intermission.
Each year, the show is organized by several volunteer parent coordinators. Anette Foland, MariAnn Apley, Jennifer Lazarus, and Carol Geller held the roles this year. For Apley, Wednesday's show ended a seven year tradition, as she and Foland will not be returning for the task next winter.
Joel VanderSchel, Pastor at New Life Church, was the night's Master of Ceremonies. According to Vanderschel, the Church allows Angell Elementary to use its auditorium in exchange for access to the school's parking lot on Sunday mornings, but this is not the sole reason for the talent show's annual location. "It's more about serving the community," he said, "It's great for the kids."
Highlights of the night included an instrumental recorder performance played by nose, two glow light dances, several talented pianists, and a sparkling rendition of Abba's "Dancing Queen."
