Tappan Middle School gets national attention for healthy eating programs, school garden

By Stefanie Murray

Tappan Middle School recently received national attention for its healthy eating programs, according to an article from the AAPSNews Service.

Tappan's Agrarian Garden and its expanded healthy cafeteria offerings were highlighted during a visit from attendees in town for the National Farm to Cafeteria Conference.

The Agrarian Adventure nonprofit board coordinates the school garden. Jeremy Moghtader, a member of the board, explained how the project was started in 2003, that it's very volunteer-driven and has been an asset to the school in many ways beyond just producing food, according to the article written by Casey Hans.

The article also discusses the expansion of Farm Fresh Days at Tappan and includes a profile on Ann Arbor Public Schools Chef Neil Murphy, who shares his favorite recipe.
