15-year-old boy injured in bicycle accident in Ypsilanti
A 15-year-old boy was injured Thursday when the chain came off his bicycle and he crashed into the side of a delivery truck, Ypsilanti police said.
The boy was riding on Michigan Avenue near Grove Road at 11:19 a.m. when the chain came off as he was going down a hill, reports said.
He was unable to stop the bicycle and ran into the side of a delivery truck leaving a business, reports said. The teen suffered a laceration to his forehead and was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for treatment. It's unclear whether he was wearing a helmet.
The boy's mother arrived on the scene before he was taken to the hospital, police said.
