Ypsilanti police arrested a 17-year-old man accused of breaking into a house and jumping out of a window to escape Saturday evening.

The break-in occurred at about 5:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Woods Drive.

Police were dispatched to a home invasion in progress and learned from the homeowner that the burglar jumped out of a window and ran, reports said. Cash and jewelry were taken from the home.

Officers set up a perimeter and found the 17-year-old a couple blocks away within about 20 minutes, police said. The teenager was arrested and interviewed, and was then taken to the Washtenaw County Jail to await arraignment, police said.

The case remains under investigation, and no further details were released.
