18-year-old Hamburg Township man dies of apparent drug overdose
An 18-year-old man with a history of substance abuse problems died late Monday in what Hamburg Township police suspect may be a drug overdose.
Family members found Peter Shmina unconscious with no pulse around 6:30 a.m. in their home in the 6100 block of Winans Drive, police said in a news release.
First responders were able to revive Shmina, and he was rushed to the University of Michigan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Family members told police Shmina had a history of substance abuse problems and had been receiving treatment, the release said. Police Chief Steve Luciano said in the release that the exact cause of Shmina's death isn't known and remains under investigation.
