2 gunmen rob group of 4 in downtown Ypsilanti early today

Four men leaving a downtown Ypsilanti establishment were robbed by two men with a handgun early today, police said.

The robbery occurred at about 1:50 a.m. at the corner of Pearl and Washington streets.

According to police, the four victims were cornered by two men, and one pointed a handgun as they ordered the men to give up their property. The victims handed over cell phones and cash, and the robbers ran off, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The first robber was described as black, in his late 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, thin build, and wearing a black baseball cap and black hooded sweatshirt. The second robber was described as black, in his mid- to late-30s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, medium build and had a a grayish beard.

Ypsilanti - a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. As long as you only leave your house in daylight hours.

Yeah....what a cool place!

Bet they didn't get much cash. The only business I know of open that late on that particular corner is Deja Vu...but I could be wrong.

You are correct DJM, the Vu is the only establishment open in that neck of the woods. These type of night time business people will prey on anyone who is unaware of their surroundings. Thats why the Right To Bear Arms is so important. I will bust a cap in dat ### if the moment arrises. That is if I feel a ligitimate threat.

Pub 13 is open late at least the dance side whatever that is called. But chances are 4 guys together... Maybe they were at Liquid Swordz also.

  • Former Michigan football player Mike Milano had tears of joy in his eyes as he received a minimal sentence in Washtenaw County Circuit Court yesterday for an aggravated assault conviction he was found guilty of in October.

    Milano was sentenced to pay a $200 fine and other court costs for his Oct. 22 misdemeanor conviction.
