A crash involving a gravel hauler and another vehicle in Pittsfield Township sent three people to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with minor injuries Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.

Huron Valley Ambulance spokeswoman Joyce Williams said emergency personnel were dispatched at 1:19 p.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Platt Road.

Pittsfield Township Fire Chief Sean Gleason said a truck, which he referred to as a gravel-hauling train, rear-ended a vehicle carrying three occupants at the intersection. The driver and two passengers were in pain and had to be put on backboards before being transported to the hospital.

Gleason said their injuries are not life threatening and there were only two vehicles involved in the crash.
