3 men caught after Lodi Township burglary convicted of resisting arrest

By Art Aisner

Three men who were caught running from a van that left the scene of a burglary in Lodi Township entered into plea deals with prosecutors. And two men who were with them remain at large, police say.

Lamar Pitts, 22, Andre Davenport, 19, and Brandon Davis, 18, each took plea deals offered at their scheduled preliminary hearings in district court, records show.

The trio fled from a reported burglary in the 6500 block of West Ellsworth Road on May 22, then crashed their getaway van into a Washtenaw County Sheriff’s patrol car responding to the scene. No one was injured.

Deputies caught the three men within minutes, but two other got away.

Pitts, of Ypsilanti, pleaded no contest to resisting and obstructing police. He remains in jail but his bond was reduced from $5,000 to $3,000.

Davenport, of Ypsilanti Township, pleaded guilty to resisting and obstructing police and was freed after posting bail, records show. He will be sentenced on July 8.

Davis, also of Ypsilanti Township, pleaded guilty to second-degree home invasion and resisting police. He’ll be sentenced on June 24, along with Pitts.

Prosecutors agreed not to charge any of them with other crimes stemming from the incident and will not charge Pitts as a habitual offender, records show.

Some nice deals for dangerous people. A police officer could have been seriously harmed when they crashed into him. Pitts should be charged as a habitual offender. What is the point of legislators passing laws if prosecutors won't follow them?

Now that they have really learned their lesson from this behavior we will no longer have to worry about them being a threat in the future. Wheewwhh

one more thing... why didn't the reporter mention the name of the prosecutor that made the sweetheart deal for these criminals?????

How is it that the sweetheart deals these criminals were able to negotiate did not include turning over the identities of their co- conspirators?? It is time that criminals were taken off the street and punishments were real. Time for new prosecutors. The plea deals are garbage.

This is the 3rd break in within block. The police did a fantastic job in catching them. It's to bad they only get a slap on the wrist. If the thiefs think they can come out to our neighborhood and break into our houses they have a nother thing coming. We are all watching and we are not going to let it continue. Thank you Lodi Township police.

People here seem confused. You see, it's not about punishing wrongdoers, or keeping them off the streets. It's all about prosecutors doing as little work as possible, but still getting a "conviction", which makes the prosecutor's numbers look good. Got that?

LOL What a great county we live in. Is anyone going to pay attention when these thugs are in the paper again? Actually I bet they have other pending cases right now. Has anyone at the A2.com inquired into these thugs criminal records? All I can say is, "Lengthy". A liberal prosecutor once again victimizing the victims.

Well that's good to know.... let's enable the young criminals so they will continue making bad choices and who cares about the taxpayers $$ that went out the window for crashing a police car..GHEEZZ

Good point. Not only the home invasion charges, but what about assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, i.e. intentionally or unintentionally ramming the cruiser)? Sounds like these scumbags are going to walk away with the most minimal charges and be sent home smiling. Now there's a way to deter crime. Sounds like the justice system is again completely dropping the ball on this one.

Way to go Mr./Ms Prosecutor! Show these criminals that they will not have to be accountable for their actions. And a home invasion is not a big deal cuz you won't do any time for it.
