Accident closes portion of northbound US-23 north of Ann Arbor
Northbound US-23 is closed from 6 Mile to Barker Road north of Ann Arbor, according to authorities.
The road remained closed as of 4:30 p.m. due to an accident.
As of 5:55 p.m., a trooper with Michigan State Police said the cause was an overturned gravel hauler. Traffic will be restricted to one lane and authorities are expected to be there late into the evening clearing the scene, the trooper said.
Northfield Township police say northbound Main Street also is extremely congested due to traffic attempting to avoid the freeway, and 8 Mile Road is closed due to railroad repairs.

The wrecked truck was cleared (in three pieces!) shortly after 9 pm, but crews will be on scene washing down the roadway for a while yet.

They crash happened on US 23 just behind Bobber Down bar & grille. One of the chefs there heard the accident and ran to help the driver. The cook (Drew) smashed out the back window of the rig and pulled the driver to safety. The driver appeared to be o.k. The semi's cab was destroyed.
